The NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY FOR CULTURAL HISTORY (SASCH)
invites interested persons to submit abstracts for papers on the theme
Cultural-historical Investigations
into the Relationship
between Man, Landscape and Environment
for this year’s congress to be held at the Potchefstroom Museum on 27-28 May 2016.
Aspects of the theme that might be of relevance:
- culture and identity;
mobility;
memory; and
inheritance or lost heritage.
There will also be a general section
Submissions should include the title as well as a summary of about 350 words. Please provide you full name, surname, title, address, e-mail address, landline number and cell number.
Abstracts should be submitted before 30 March 2016, please forward to Anton van Vollenhoven at antonv@archaetnos.co.za, cc leoniembotes@gmail.com
Those who will not be presenting papers are also invited and encouraged to attend the congress. The congress entails a forum where Cultural Historians and those interested in Cultural History and heritage-conservation would meet, discuss Cultural History, debate research and exchange ideas.
SASCH congresses serve as unique opportunities to accomplish the above. These congresses furthermore assure wonderful social get-togethers. In the pipeline for this year are an evening- function and an interesting excursion.
The organising committee consists of Leonie Marais-Botes, Anton van Vollenhoven, Cecilia Kruger, Estelle Pretorius, Kobus du Pisani and Petra Luus in conjunction with the personnel of the Potchefstroom Museum.
